Bryan, Garnier & Co advised Mérieux NutriSciences in the acquisition of Chelab

Paris, November 27th, 2012  – Bryan, Garnier & Co, the independent pan-European Investment bank focusing on growth companies, advised Mérieux NutriSciences on the acquisition of Chelab S.r.l. completed in October 2012. With this acquisition, Mérieux NutriSciences strengthens its presence in the Italian analytical food testing market, and expands its scope of services in other sectors such as environment, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other non-food analytical services.

Mérieux NutriSiences acquired 100% of the shares of Chelab S.r.l. from the Conte family for an undisclosed amount. Tiziano Conte, founder and CEO of Chelab, joins the Board of Directors of Mérieux NutriSciences.

Bryan, Garnier & Co acted as exclusive financial advisor to Mérieux NutriSciences.

Chelab S.r.l. is a private and independent analytical laboratory founded in 1979 by dr. Tiziano Conte and his wife Ms. Carla Bertollo.

Chelab S.r.l holds a leadership position in Italy with revenues of approximately €45m. It employs c. 600 people, of whom more than half are graduates in science.

With over 12 000m² of analytical facilities and more than 1 800 samples processed daily, Chelab S.r.l is a full-service laboratory providing microbiology, biology and chemistry services to Italian and international clients. The company is recognized as one of Europe’s best chemistry operations and analytical services provider.

Headquartered in Resana, near Venice, the company is also present in Lombardia, Tuscany, Campania and Sicily. Chelab operates also a food laboratory in Izmir and a sales office in Istanbul.
